Imagine using a state-of-the-art video wall as a teaching tool, a wall with a trading floor look that displays real-time stock pricing data, stock and news tickers, and live high-def TV feeds. Also imagine that the system configuration includes a lecture mode that allows for media playback, PowerPoint input, and cameras to aid in classroom instruction.
In October 2008, Alpha Video & Audio was a second-time winner at the DIGI Awards, taking the category of Excellence in Creativity (Corporate Application) for their design and installation of just such a video wall for the University of New Mexico’s Anderson School of Management.
Alpha Video’s revolutionary CastNET digital signage solution (along with Scala’s InfoChannel 5) handles the stock displays, enabling the University to manage the wall through a web-based interface. CastNET, sold around the globe, also has an optional Life Safety Live Control component that enables timely information, emergency alerts, and weather warnings to be displayed. A message can be activated with a mouse click from a CastNET-secured interface or by linking the CastNET system to an outside trigger, such as a fire alarm.
That Alpha Video is leading the industry in digital technology development comes as no surprise, as they’ve been a top digital video systems dealer, integrator, and provider of visual communications solutions since 1970. Based in Edina, Minnesota, the company was initially founded by Bethany Fellowship, a missionary group that supplied equipment to video production companies. Thirty-eight years later, they specialize in all facets of AV and digital media content creation, management, and distribution.
Today, Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, municipalities, academic institutions, medical and pharmaceutical companies, broadcast facilities, and gaming and entertainment venues rely on Alpha Video for their best in class knowledge and service. In fact, while most of their competitors focus on a specific vertical, gold-level CAVSP-certified Alpha Video has built a reputation for excellence in all of those diverse markets.
Known for their exceptional local response, they also have national reach, in part through their PSNI affiliation. President & CEO Stan Stanek notes, “By leveraging the power of dozens of integrators nationwide, we’re able to support projects around the country.” Moreover, they regularly manage media delivery for their customers, as well as help them develop long-term plans for building onsite media infrastructures. COO Kevin Groves states, “We weave multiple strategies such as video conferencing, digital signage, and video-on-demand into an interconnected fabric. We start small, then explore larger, enterprise-wide opportunities at the pace best suited to our clients’ needs.”
Going forward, they intend to remain a leading industry firm, a goal listed in their vision statement, called the Alpha Video Values. Other values include taking a personal interest in customer success, embracing innovation, learning from mistakes, and ensuring employees stay current on the latest communications technologies. Thanks to the company’s forward-thinking, fully engaged management and an entrepreneurial staff that take these values very seriously, the company promises to be a major player in the industry for many years to come. |
