For more than two years, Ohio’s iVideo Technologies has been the go-to audiovisual integrator for Cardinal Health. Another Ohio-based company, Cardinal Health operates the nation’s largest network of radiopharmacies and provides medical supplies to many of the most prestigious medical institutions in the U.S.

The two companies have worked together on AV installations and support contracts both domestically and internationally, so when Cardinal Health announced a new office in Osaka, Japan, iVideo was the obvious choice to handle AV in the new space.

Also obvious? iVideo needed an integration partner in or near Osaka to help the project go smoothly. Keep reading to learn how iVideo found the ideal collaborator and how they worked together to deliver an international project that exceeded the client’s expectations and opened the door to more global projects for both iVideo and AstroServe.

What’s the Best Way to Find an AV Integration Partner?

Cardinal’s new Osaka space required an entire floor of audiovisual equipment, including technology for a large conference room and two huddle spaces. But before iVideo even started thinking about that, they reached out to the PSNI Global Alliance to find a local integration partner that could help.

AstroServe, a leading AV integrator in the Asian market and a new PSNI affiliate, was recommended by both the alliance and one of iVideo’s trusted vendors. After an initial interview, the decision to work with AstroServe came easily.

“AstroServe is considered a leading integrator in the Asian markets, and it’s not hard to see why,” said an iVideo representative. “They are very thorough, considerate, and professional. They provided an excellent quality of work, and communication was smooth and easy.”

For AstroServe, the partnership was an opportunity to provide expertise on local culture and business practices.  For example, in Japan when you are working on new rooms, you should always take your shoes off—until you hand it off to the customer. And, by working with a partner with different experience, AstroServe was able to gain new insights into system selection and configuration.

Are Global AV Partnerships Successful?

Once iVideo identified the right partner, all that was left was to execute the project. First, iVideo created a list of the necessary technologies based on the meeting spaces and the client’s requests. Then AstroServe tweaked the list based on what was available in Japan, and what would fit the best in traditional Japanese office spaces. For example, the AstroServe representative explained that many office buildings in Japan have low ceilings, so AstroServe recommended an alternate display screen type and size that would better suit the building’s architecture.
